Nigella Hispanica -Spanish Love-In-A-Mist is a wildly popular flower featuring well formed, fennel like foliage that gives way to floating shades of dark blue to purple  and white rough-edged star shaped flowers delicately surrounded by sprigs of finely dissected thread-like leaves. This whimsical and romantic charmer is a staple to classic cottage gardens and adds exceptional textural interest in planting beds of all themes and styles. An excellent cut flower variety that is used both fresh and dried in various stages of maturity from flower to its famous textural seed pods.lavender dusted, royal blue and white blooms, all with spidery black centers.

How to Grow:

Days To Maturity :65-70 for flowers; 80-85 for pods


Sow 3-4 times every 2-3 weeks early in season for continuous flower/pod production. Direct seed (recommended) : Sow in early spring when soil temperatures reach 60°F (16°C).

Fall sow where winters are mild. Cover lightly with soil as light is required for germination.

Transplant :Sow 4-6 weeks before last frost. Plants are sensitive to root disturbance.



How to harvest:

Fresh: When flower buds fully colored or pods have begun to develop.

Dried: When seed pods are firm to touch.
