Aquilegia  William Guinness  is an old-fashioned charmercreates a beautiful flowering clump in spring and early summer. It truly is one of the few flowers that make you want to look twice.
William Guinness Columbine features showy nodding deep purple bell-shaped flowers with black overtones, yellow eyes and white centers at the ends of the stems from late spring to early summer, which emerge from distinctive black flower buds. The flowers are excellent for cutting. Its lobed compound leaves remain green in color throughout the season.

Soil requirements :Prefers light shade and humus-rich, well-drained soil.
Soil Type: Average, Moist well-drained, pH 5.8-7.2Will tolerate full sun where summers are cool and plants can be kept watered.Sowing:Transplant (recommended) - Sow 8-10 weeks before last frost. Transplant out after last frost. Barely cover seed as light aids germination.
 
Transplant to larger containers or cell packs when first true leaves appear.Direct seed - Sow once soil has warmed to 65°F (18°C). Sow directly into seed bed in groups of 3-4 seeds. Thin to one plant when true leaves appear.
